We’ll Enhance Economic Potentials, Eradicate Poverty- OGSG

The Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperatives, Hon. Gbenga Adenmosun said, government would continue to strategise on measures that will enhanced the State economic potentials, with the aim of eradicating poverty in the State.
Adenmosun stated this at a one-day seminar, for trade associations and artisan groups in the State, organised by the Department of Trades Development, at the Cooperative College Ijeja, Abeokuta.
Speaking on the theme ‘’Trading and Artisanship in Ogun State: A Panacea for Rapid Economic Development’’, the Commissioner said the infrastructure springing up in different parts of the State and the empowerment programmes embarked upon by the government was to provide enabling environment for business to thrive, as well as improving living standard of the people.
He said the seminar was to enable trade associations and artisan groups have better understanding of various environmental policies that would enhance economic development and also to sensitise them on the need to collaborate with government for mutual benefits.
‘’The State Government has embarked on various economic programmes, in 2016 and 2017, N21m and N25m was released respectfully to Ogun State Cooperative Federation Limited, as revolving loan at 7 percent interest to Cooperative Societies/ Unions in the State. The Bank of Industry in collaboration with the State government is assisting various artisan groups and trade association to access funds to finance their businesses. Also Grants in Aid was given to Community Development Associations to support them’’ he added.
Adenmosun stated that the present administration would maintain cordial relationship with various agencies and organisations to address the challenges of insufficient funding and lack of access to capital.
In his goodwill message, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Jonathan Onajobi, said the present administration was playing a vital role in assisting trade and commerce to thrive through aggressive agricultural production and industrialisation programmes, maintaining that road network has been improved to ease transportation challenges.
