Owala Dam and Ore/Ilie Bridge Construction In Osun: SA Water Resources Charges Contractor On Timely Completion

The Special Adviser to Osun State Governor on Water Resources and Energy, Engr. Adeniran Felix Ibitoye, FNSE has charged the Contractor handling the construction of Ore/Ilie bridge to redouble its efforts in ensuring that the work is completed in good time.

Engr. Ibitoye who is also known as Kilomodemo gave the charge while on an on-the-spot asessment visit to the Owala dam and Ore/Ilie bridge sequel to the concern raised by the State Governor, Oyetola, on the delay in the completion of the bridge project.

The Special Adviser in his assessment explained that the State Water Corporation has taken many fruitful collaborative steps so far to fast track and support the timely completion of the bridge located between the down stream of Eko-Ende dam and upstream of Owala dam.

Engr. Ibitoye further explained the concern of Osun State Governor on the timely completion of the bridge for the benefit of the State. He thus charged the Contractor to ensure speedy  completion of the bridge project.

In his response,  Engr. Tosin Adebayo, who is the site Agent, appreciated the support of Water Corporation for providing enabling environment for them to work, saying this had given room to construct two additional piers, one on each side of the bank, out of the outstanding 7piers.

He then appealed to the management of Water Corporation to  continue the drainage of the basin in July to allow them construct the remaining 5 Piers located in the center of the river.

In order to assist  the Contractor in meeting the target on the project, the General Manager of  Osun Water Corporation, Engr. Ademola Fatola urged the Contractor not to renege on hos promise of repairing the damaged spillway gate and desilting the upper course of the river at the Owala dam in order to hasten rapid discharge of water from the dam.
