Ogun Principals Urged To Embrace Modern Teaching Methods

The Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Modupe Mujota has called on Principals and Vice – Principals in the State public secondary schools to join hands with the government, by training its members on modern teaching methodologies, thereby making schools across the State, centres of excellence.

The Commissioner who spoke when she received members of the State chapter of All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPPS), led by its president, Mr. Ebenezer Ogundele, at her office in Abeokuta, said government would ensure that schools headed by members of the association train and retrain their counterparts in other schools.

“The State government would require the assistance of ANCOPPS in making sure that our schools become centres of excellence. Towards this goal, workshops on modern teaching methodology should be organised for teachers, such workshops should however, not be during schools session”, she said.

She also called on parents to support their children educational attainment, saying that any expense on their children should not be seen as a waste but an investment for their better tomorrow

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Sefiu Rasheed admonished the school administrators to come up with suggestions that would lead to improve standard of students performance, at the internal and external examinations , calling for an enlarged executive meeting, where issues on students and academic performances would be discussed.

Speaking earlier, the State ANCOPPS president, Mr. Ogundele, urged the  government to allow all primary school pupils transiting to JSS1 to write qualifying examination to the schools of their choice, pledging that principals were  determined to improve on service delivery, by being more dedicated and diligent to their duties.
