OGSJ Inducts 53 Omdc Neutrals, Charges On Accountability
As part of measures to further ensure that the wheel of Administration of Justice system is enhanced in the State, Ogun State Judiciary has inducted another set of Neutrals that would function in the newly established Ogun Multi Door Court House (OMDC) in Ijebu-Ode.
Speaking at the induction of 53 Neutrals, held at the High Court Complex, Isabo, Abeokuta, Justice Olatokunbo Olopade said the Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanism has been on the front burner in the administration of Justice System globally, which Ogun State has effectively keyed into.
Olopade maintained that, mediation as a tool, has been used to settle tough and difficult land disputes tenancy, family disputes in few sessions and has greatly impacted positively on the Justice Delivery System of the Sate, adding that the Abeokuta MDC has handled over 200 cases, of which 50 percent had been resolved.
‘’This is a giant stride, I encourage you to be committed, impartial, fair and adhere strictly to the professional ethics of mediators. You are now ambassadors of peace and you should know that confidentiality is Paramount and key in the discharge of your duties. The essence of this new trend is to bring justice closer and faster to the people and offer them more doors to access justice’’, Olopade emphasised.
In his speech, President, Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), Barr. Emeka Obegolu charged the inductees to exhibit the highest standard of professionalism and proficiency in their conducts, as mediators and conciliators.
The inducted Neutrals, which consist of traditional rulers, judges, members of the chamber of commerce, amongst others were expected to function in the multi door courthouses, established in Abeokuta, Ijebu-Ode and others, to be established soon in the State.
