Mujota Commends Outgoing TASUED VC, Prof. Obilade
Outgoing Vice Chancellor of the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, Professor (Mrs.) Oluyemisi Obilade has been commended for her contributions to the development of the school in the last five years.
The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Modupe Mujota who gave the commendation at a valedictory service held in her honour, noted that Prof. Obilade, during her tenure, has used her wealth of experience to develop the school, positing it to be one of the best amongst institutions of higher learning in Nigeria.
according to her, Obilade has brought innovations such as, new intra-school transport system, uninterrupted school calendar, staff welfare, expansion of the Information Communication Technology (ICT), as well as human and capital development, through her local and international exposure.
‘’Professor Oluyemisi Obilade has demonstrated to womenfolk that achievement has no gender. She has set a pace that is worthy of emulation for those coming behind and left a shoe that may seem rather too big for them to step in,’’ Mujota said.
The Commissioner enjoined both academic and non-academic staff of the institution not to renege in their commitment by aspiring to greater deeds, adding that the State Government would continue to do everything possible to support the just and profitable cause they embarked upon.
Earlier in his valedictory address, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Professor Olufemi Bamiro described Professor Obilade as a strategist, a visionary leader, focused and a passionate activist, adding that TASUED during her tenure got more programmes, especially in vocational and technical studies, all of which are fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
He also extolled the managerial skills of the out-going Vice-Chancellor and prudent management of available resources which he noted, had resulted in the smooth running of the school.
Responding, Professor Obilade recalled with nostalgia the deplorable condition she met the University on assumption of office on January 2013, saying the condition almost made her to turn down the offer but with prayers, she overcame the challenges.
‘’When I resumed on the campus on my first day of appointment, I was taken aback. However, with perseverance, prayer and the full cooperation I enjoyed from all stakeholders, one was able to overcome the challenges”, she said.
Obilade thanked the Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun for giving her the opportunity to serve, urging the entire university community to extend same hand of fellowship and cooperation to her successor.
