Mujota Charges Students On Early Preparation
As this year’s May/June West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) gets under way, candidates writing the examination in Ogun State have been told to prepare early, in order to come out in flying colours.
The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Modupe Mujota who made the call while addressing news men after monitoring the examination in Abeokuta, said early preparation rather than last minute rush would guarantee good performance.
“Not all you do at the twilight of your days before the examination that counts, but the foundation laid earlier before the exercise,’’ the Commissioner said.
Commenting on the conduct of the examination, Mujota expressed satisfaction with the exercise, adding that the criteria set by the State government for promotion into Senior Secondary (SS) II and III for students in the State public schools, should not be seen as stumbling block, but to help achieve good results in the final examinations.
While admonishing the students to take their studies serious, the Commissioner called on parents and guardians not to labour their children and wards with domestic chores, but allow them to play, rest and do their revision. Schools visited by the Commissioner and some Directors in the Ministry included Government Science and Technical College, Idi-Aba, Lisabi Grammar School, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta Grammar School, Idi-Aba, African Church Grammar School, Ita-Iyalode and St. Peters College, Public and Private, all in Abeokuta South and North Local Government Areas.
