Ogun Set to Rehabilitate 160 Schools.
Ogun State government says plans are underway to renovate 160 public primary and secondary schools in the State.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education Science and Technology, Mr. Olu-Ola Aikulola, made this known during the monitoring of the 2019 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) across the State.
Mr. Aikulola informed that on the spot inspections had been done by the State government to identify and find a lasting solution to the various stages of disrepair, in which the schools are currently in.
‘’A total number of 160 schools in need of urgent rehabilitation have been identified and work will commence in earnest, as assured by Governor Dapo Abiodun, to be one of the things his administration hopes to achieve within hundred days in office’’, he said
On the Basic Education Certificate Education Examination BECE, the Permanent Secretary said he was impressed by the general conduct of this year’s examination, noting that, there was adequate supply of materials, which were packed according to subjects and the schools they were meant for, while students were met already writing the papers of the day.
“I can also assure you by the grace of God, results will be out in record time, Government has released funds for the conduct of the exams, it therefore behoves us to ensure there is no delay in releasing results’’, he said.
The principal, Kobape Community High School, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Daudu said the exam was going on smoothly, and the students have been of their best behaviour.
The monitoring team which comprised of the management team of the Ministry of Education Science and Technology led by the permanent Secretary visited public and private secondary schools in the three senatorial districts of the State.
In the same vein, Students in Public schools across Ogun State have been encouraged to study hard and shun all forms of examination malpractices that could jeopardise their future.
The Sagamu Zonal Education Officer, Mr. Mayowa Odufuwa said this during the monitoring exercise carried out on students writing the 2018/2019 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in Sagamu zone.
According to him, examination materials and other logistics needed for a hitch free exercise arrived on time while the examination commenced at the appropriate time.
