University For People With Special Needs To Be Established In Ogun
A new institution of higher learning that will cater for people with hearing challenges and other special needs is to be established in Sagamu, Ogun State.
This was made known by Mr. Demola Aladekomo, who led the Management Board of Wesley University, Ondo, to a meeting with Governor Ibikunle Amosun in Abeokuta.
Aladekomo said the institution in collaboration with the Gallaudet University of Washington DC, is to build a university which would be the first of its kind in the country to cater for the over 10 million deaf people in Nigeria.
Speaking on the location of the proposed university, He said Sagamu could be most ideal because of its closeness to the Airport in Lagos, saying when operational, the institution would gain international acceptance thereby attracting students from in and outside the country
On the decision to build the university for the special people, the interim Dean, School of Education, Business and Human Services, Gallaudet University, Dr. Khadijat Rashid, said they could understand their instructors and learn appropriately, saying the establishment of the school was long overdue.
