Senator Amosun Commiserates With Ogunlesi Family On The Death Of Nigeria’s First Professor of Medicine

The Senator representing Ogun Central at the National Assembly, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has commisserated with the entire Ogunlesi family, on the death of Nigeria’s first professor of medicine, Emeritus Professor Theophilus Oladipo Ogunlesi at the age of 99.

Senator Amosun eulogised late Ogunlesi, an illustrious indigene of Ogun State who made the State and indeed Nigeria proud through his meritorious career, exceptional brilliance, hard work, and selfless service.

He said as the first Nigerian Professor of Medicine, was instrumental in putting Ogun State and Nigeria on the world map through his immense contributions to the growth of medicine.

Emeritus Prof. Theophilus Ogunlesi, the first Nigerian to head the Department of Medicine, University College Hospital, Ibadan, will also be remembered for producing several generations of medical professionals who are impacting humanity positively across the world.

Senator Amosun said though Prof. Ogunlesi died at a time when his wise counsel could still be beneficial to many, he takes solace in his accomplishments, and legacies.

He prayed Almighty God to grant the doyen of the medical profession eternal rest, and give his entire family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
