Herdsmen Attacks: Ogun Assembly Calls For Surveillance
Security agencies in Ogun State have been charged to be at alert and keep close watch on herdsmen’s activities, particularly those said to be moving towards Opeji, Adatan and other parts of Abeokuta, the State capital.
The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Suraju Adekunbi, who gave the charge while responding to a number of personal explanations at the plenary, held at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, said security was one of the major focus of this administration and all agencies saddled with the responsibility of maintaining peace and tranquillity, needed to be on alert to nip any criminal activity in the bud, stressing that nothing would be allowed to undermine the security of the State.
Speaking, the member representing Odeda State Constituency, Hon. Yetunde Sogbein, said the presence of herdsmen was initially felt in Baale village, but migrated and settled at Akingbade village in Alabata ward, adding that the development has created fear and anxiety among the people.
On his part, Hon. Israel Jolaoso, said the people of Ewekoro, who were still mourning the death of a headmistress and teacher, both of African Church Primary School, as a result of recent attack by the herdsmen, are now living in fear over possible future attacks, calling for beef up of security in the area.
