OGSG To Continue Collaborating With National Library On Reading Culture
Ogun State Government says it will continue to collaborate with the National Library, in order to inculcate reading culture in the students, to keep them well informed and broaden their horizon,
Governor Ibikunle Amosun stated this while receiving members of the National Library Association, during a courtesy visit to his office at Oke- Mosan, Abeokuta, said it was time, students strive to know more beyond the four walls of their classrooms, saying it would help to broaden their knowledge and avail them diverse understanding of their schools’ curriculum.
“Education is the bedrock for our students, therefore, there is need to inculcate the reading habit, and ensure the use of libraries, where subjects taught in classroom can be enhanced,” he said.
Represented by his Deputy, Chief (Mrs.) Yetunde Onanuga, Senator Amosun noted that students needed to be more focused in their studies and devout less time for the social media, which could negatively influenced them.
While commending the Executive Council of the National Library, for encouraging the youths to take to reading, the Governor, said the State government would not relent at supporting the education sector to achieve its objectives.
In his remark, the National President, Nigerian Library Association, Dr. Umuna Okpara, solicited government’s support towards equipping the libraries with modern equipment, to further attract the children, spur them to be using the available resources and bring out the best in them, adding that this would enable them contribute meaningfully to the development of the Country.
