Road Accident Claims Five Lives Along Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway

No fewer than five persons have died while three others sustained injuries in a road accident along Abeokuta–Sagamu Expressway, Ogun State.

In a statement by the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Ogun State, Ahmed Umar, the accident which involved a Howo Sino Truck and a Mazda car occurred at 3:45pm, Sunday June 26, 2022 at Day Waterman turning along Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway when the truck driver initiated a dangerous U-turn without caution and rammed into a Mazda car with registration number: KRD 975 HJ due to over speeding.

The statement adds that out of nine people, four men and five women who were involved in the accident, five died while three others sustained injuries and the driver of the Howo Sino truck who caused the crash ran away.

The statement adds that the injured victims were receiving treatment at the State Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta and Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, for treatment while bodies of the deceased persons have been deposited at State Hospital, Ijaye morgue and Idera Hospital morgue, Sagamu .

Mr Ahmed Umar while commiserating with the bereaved families, appealed to articulated vehicle drivers to observe safety rules and avoid overbearing attitude while driving.
