Ogun Strenghtens Ambulance Services

In a bid to ensure effective health care delivery to all and sundry, Ogun State government, in conjunction with the Social Developmental Goals Office, has procured three new ambulances for quick response to emergency cases across the State.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye, while addressing Pressmen in Abeokuta, said the ambulances were procured to complement the existing ones, adding that the three ambulances which would be available on 24 hour basis, to attend to emergency cases within five to 15 minutes of call, would cover Ijebu North East, Abeokuta and Ota axis

“Before now, I am sure you know that we have an ambulance permanently stationed at the interchange, we have one in Abeokuta/Sagamu Expressway, another one at Ifo, while some were at Ilaro and Ijebu-Ode. What we are doing is to strengthen the emergency services across the State.

“One of the new ambulances will cover Ijebu East, Ijebu North axis, it will be centrally deployed so that where there is an emergency, within five, ten, fifteen minutes of calls, the ambulance gets to the scene of the accident and victims taken to the hospital. One will be within Abeokuta metropolis, so that the one along this axis can focus on the road and the new one will now deal with emergencies within town. The third one will move to Ota axis,” Ipaye stated.

According to him, “We want to have a system that would have ambulances centrally located in strategic places, within each of our nine Federal Constituencies and once we have any emergency, the ambulance can respond almost immediately different from ambulances that are attached to the hospital.”
