Ogun Speaker Commends Workers, Assures On More Democratic Gains This Year

The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Suraju Ishola Adekunbi says members of staff of the Assembly play a pivotal role in the enactment and implementation of people-oriented legislations, hence, the need for them to redouble their efforts, at ensuring the success of the ongoing rebuilding mission in the State.

Adekunbi, represented by the Clerk of the House, Engr. Lanre Bisiriyu said this during an inter-denominational prayer by Assembly staffers to mark the New Year, held at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

He explained that the workforce had been contributing meaningfully to the developmental strides recorded by the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led –administration, since its inception, charging them to be more resourceful towards contributing their quota in achieving the accelerated development of the State.

The Speaker, who lauded the State government for its commitment towards meeting the obligations of the people, including the State public servants, noted that the various welfare programmes of government had helped to enhance their productivity.

He also counselled them to remain apolitical, abide by the public service rules; continue to promote the ethics of the service and maintain their loyality to the government.

Meanwhile, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Suraju Ishola Adekunbi has assured Nigerians, especially the people of the State of better times, as the present government is set to consolidate on the existing democratic gains, by tackling headlong, any emerging issue affecting the socio-economic status of the people of the State.

Adekunbi in his new year goodwill message issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr Waheed Akinola, assured that the current challenges bedevilling the nation could only be addressed through the support and cooperation of the citizens, while promising the people, more rewarding year, as the current government was committed towards total turn-around of the economy, improved security network and other welfare programmes for people.

According to him, the nation’s challenges were surmountable, hence the need for all Nigerians to support government in its resolve to build a better nation by drawing strength from the nation’s unity in diversity.

He assured that, as people’s representatives, the legislative arm of government would continue to do its best at promoting mutual interdependence among the three arms of government, to further bring development to all parts of the State and the nation at large.

The Speaker expressed his heartfelt wish and assurance for a better year for all, calling for a renewed hope, perseverance and unity of purpose among Nigerians, so as to build a strong and united Nigeria.
