Ogun Police Command Clears The Air On Surrender Of Rifles.
Ogun State Police Command has described as baseless the purported surrender of 1000 Ak 47 rifles and 4 million bullets acquired by the former Governor, Ibikunle Amosun.
A statement by the State Police public relations officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, expressed surprise over the publication.
He noted that whereas items
handed over to the Command on may 28 were: One armoured personnel carrier vehicle; One million, four hundred and forty thousand, four hundred and twenty (1,440,420) rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two hundred and seventy one units of amoured vests and 3 ballistic helmets.
The command notes that not a single AK 47 riffle was among items handed over by the former governor adding that the much talked about 1,000 riffles were those purchased by the State government and handed over to the Command in the year 2012.
He said the former governor only made reference to it during the handover on 28th May 2019.
The Command advised Media houses to cross check information rather than rush to the press in total violation of the ethic of journalism.
