Ogun Police Arrest 45-year Old Woman for beating her daughter to death

Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 45-year old woman, Kafayat Lawal for allegedly beating her 17-year old daughter, Ayomide Adekoya to death.

The suspect who was arrested on July 27th following a distress call which the DPO Ogijo Divisional headquarters CPS Mohammed Suleman Baba received that the suspect had locked up her two daughters in a room where she allegedly beat and injured them with broken bottles.

The DPO then mobilized his men and moved to the area to rescue the two victims who were later rushed to the hospital for prompt medical attentions but one of the victims could not make it to the hospital as she died on the way.

The suspect who was now in Police custody claimed that she had separated with the father of her two daughters nine years ago and that she was upset when the girls who left home during Sallah could not return until the following day. She said her neighbours pleaded on their behalf when she made attempts to beat them up.

She explained that her daughters repeated the same thing the following day when they went out and passed the night outside. Then she decided to lock them up in order to beat them but ended up using broken bottles.

According to the statement by the Police Public Relations officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the older one, Blessing Adekoya, 19,was injured in the hand while her younger sister was not that lucky as she was stabbed in the chest which later led to her death.

In the meantime, the State Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun has ordered immediate transfer of the Suspect to homicide section of the State criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
