Ogun Pilgrims Begins Visitation to Historic Sites.

The Executive Secretary, Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Abdul Hakeem Tunji kalejaiye, has disclosed that Muslim pilgrims from the State are set to embark on siarah, to historic sites in the city of Medina.

Kalejaiye, while disclosing this in a meeting with board’s officers and Ogun Hajj committee members said the visitation was part of the arrangement put in place to familiarise pilgrims with important religious sites in the Holy Land and also reinforce their understanding of Islam.

“The visitation is a religious practice that pilgrims look forward to and the board is set to help them fulfil their aspirations”, he said.

Also speaking at the meeting, the Amir ul Hajj of the Committee, Alhaji Abdul Yakeen Arimyau Parakoyi, expressed satisfaction at the arrangement on ground, saying this would give pilgrims the opportunity to get more enlightened about Islam.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun had earlier before their departure, at a fare well ceremony, admonished the State’s pilgrims to the Holy Land to obey the laws of the land and ensure not to take along items forbidden by the Saudi Arabian authority.

Prince Abiodun who made this known at the Obas Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, venue of the farewell ceremony, said the pilgrims, as ambassadors, should desist from illegal and immoral act that could tarnish the image of the State and the country, urging them to strictly follow all laid down rules of the host country.

“As ambassadors of our dear State and Nigeria, you should desist from all illegal and immoral act that could tarnish the image of our dear state and country, obey the laws of the land, do not take into the holy land anything that they do not approve of and when you get there, do not do anything that they do not permit to be done in their land”, he said.
