Ogun Commissioner Harps On Legalisation Of Business Operations

In line with modern trends of doing business globally, members of the Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME), who are yet to formalise their businesses as legal entities, have been advised to do so by registering at least, a business name.

The Ogun State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, gave the advice at the inauguration of new State Executives and award ceremony of the Ogun State Chapter of the Association in Abeokuta.

Ashiru who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Jonathan Onajobi, urged them to also open a corporate account in any bank of their choice, for easy financial management and business transaction.

He assured that the State government would continue to create enabling environment for businesses to thrive by fostering cordial relationship with trade associations.

While congratulating the new executives, the Commissioner charged them to form a common front towards moving the association to greater heights.

Earlier in his address, the National President and Chairman of Council of NASME, Prince Degun Agboade, disclosed that the mission of the association was to promote the empowerment of Nigeria’s MSMEs, as a means of achieving sustainable employment generation, economic growth and all round development in the country.

Speaking on the theme, ‘’’Synergy for SME Growth in Ogun State,’’ the guest speaker, Dr. Kehinde Badaru, harped on the importance of institutional collaboration for effective growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

According to him, the social well-being of a nation was dependent on the productivity of her people, hence the need to sustain the level of growth being witnessed in the State, with over 300 new companies opening shops in the last seven years.

In his welcome address, the Chairman, NASME, Ogun State, Dr. Akinwunmi Alonge, urged the State government to consider the establishment of the Ogun State MSME Council in order to benefit from the Federal government initiatives.
