Ogun APC zones governorship slot to the west senatorial district

APCThe All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ogun State has agreed to zone the party’s governorship ticket to the West senatorial district which has not produced a governor since the creation of the State.

This disclosure was made by the immediate acting chairman of the party,  Alhaji Tajudeen Lemboye while addressing an extended meeting of the party’s members that the decision was the collective wish of the party.

Lemboye said the party is in tune with the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, who had indicated interest to support the zone.

The Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Sola Lawal said the decision was a unanimous one which automatically determines where other positions at the Congress such as chairman, secretary and other executive members would be zoned.

Meanwhile, the party state congress was a peaceful one devoid of rancour.

One of the aides of the governor,  Chief Derin Adebiyi, has been elected as the new chairman of the party while Alhaji Bashiru Fadayiro and Patrick Ogunde emerged as the deputy state chairman and secretary respectively.

An ex-aide of the former governor of the State, Wole Elegbede was elected as the State Publicity Secretary.

The Chairman of the Congress Committee, Revd. Peter Obadan, while announcing the results said that a total of 1,749 delegates drawn from the 20 local governments area of the State participated in the exercise.

He described Congress as peaceful and commended members for conducting themselves in an orderly manner.

The new state chairman, Adebiyi, promised that the executives would ensure the victory of the party at the polls in 2019.
