Obasanjo Mourns the Late Anti – Apartheid Scion, Desmond Tutu

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says the late Anti – Apartheid Scion, Pro-Democracy Guru, and Human Right Crusader, The Most Reverend Desmond Tutu played a crucial role in the Nigeria’s debt cancelation and described the effort as uncommon solidarity and deep passion with which the late Desmond Tutu had argued Nigeria’s case for full debt cancelation in his letter to Mr Gordon Brown, the then Chancellor of the Exchequer, United Kingdom during his administration as President

He explained that the historic advocacy by the late Preacher intercessor with respect to Nigeria’s indebtedness to the Paris Club on behalf of Nigeria was unique and impressive.

In a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, Chief Obasanjo in a condolence letter to the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa said the Late Desmond Tutu was a focused, credible, bold, sensitive and purposeful leader not just to members of the Anglican Church but to all Christians.

Chief Obasanjo told President Ramaphosa that the late Reverend Tutu was a patriotic and highly respected teacher and field commander of the lord’s Army and symbolized one of our finest examples of how a life truly dedicated to our Saviour Jesus Christ can make a difference.

Noting that the world is saddened by the inevitable finality of his passage, Chief Obasanjo said we should be comforted that the late Desmond Tutu left good legacies and his memory will linger on in the mind of his admirers, friends, immediate community, congregants and the Christendom.

“He will also be remembered for his forthrightness, doggedness, dynamism, welfarism, anti-corruption, estachological discourses, courage, commitment to ethical values, uprightness, unwavering Christian testimony and purposeful leadership.  He died with his head lifted high; his ministry untainted; and his integrity uncompromised”
