NYSC Ogun and NSE Parley
The Abeokuta Branch of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has re- affirmed their readiness to partner with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Ogun in appropriate manner in ensuring the realisation of the objectives of the NYSC, and in ensuring that the technological development of the country is not inhibited.
This was stated earlier today 14th May, 2019, during the courtesy visit of NSE Abeokuta branch to the NYSC Ogun State, which was to re-affirm the existing relationship and strengthening the collaboration between the two parties.
The Abeokuta branch Chairman, Engr. Dr. O.A.Apampa, FNSE said the purpose of the visit was to identify with NYSC’s mandate to train young graduates, make them more amenable to mobilization in the national interest, and also to discuss how to enhance the professional capabilities of the Engineering graduates so as to better equip them to fulfill the needs of the profession for the good of the public and the nation at large.
Most importantly, the visit gave an opportunity to open up lines of communication, information gathering and identify areas of collaboration in advocacy on the Section 14(i) and (ii) of the recently signed COREN Ammendment Act 2019 by President Buhari that ” NYSC shall ensure posting of graduate engineers and technologist to places of relevant professional engineering experience and NYSC shall communicate the location of graduate engineers and engineering technologists to the council”.
In her own remark, the Ogun State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Belinda Amaeze Faniyi appreciated NSE for the visit and also assured NSE of their willingness to collaborate with them.
The visit also gave an opportunity to share information on Engineering agencies and firms between NSE Delegations and NYSC Management Staff, and also how to ensure that the aim of government in enacting the law is neither frustrated, nor defeated
