NSE Launches Two International Branches, To mark 60th Anniversary.

As part of efforts aimed at expanding the influence and affiliations of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) across international frontiers, two new branches-Houston (USA) and London (UK), have been inaugurated by the President of the Society, Engr. Adekunle Mokuolu, 60 years after its formation in London.
While the Houston branch was launched on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at the Texas Southern University (TSU) with Engr. Fisoye Delano, taking the oath of office as pioneer Chairman, the inauguration of London branch was done on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the Kensington Building,
Imperial College with Engr. Sunday Popo-ola, as Chairman.
According to a statement signed by the acting Director, Engineering Bureau Services/Media of NSE, Abuja, Abdulkadir Aliyu, in addition to the advantage of expansion in membership and locational spread, the move was with a view to harnessing the abundant intellectual resources of Nigerian Engineers in the diaspora, giving the country’s professionals abroad a sense of belonging and the opportunity for knowledge transfer.
He added that the scope of engineering expertise in Nigeria will also be broadened across all sectors, putting an expansive range of experiences at the disposal of both the Federal and State governments in Nigeria.
“This international collaboration is also a strategic response to the directives carried in the Presidential Executive Order 005 of President Muhammadu Buhari. Nigerian Engineers are set to take role of the drivers of the processes that will lead to attaining the desire of Mr. President, of achieving home-made growth and development for Nigeria.
“With this international cooperation, Engineering professionals and companies in Nigeria are now better positioned for fair competition with expatriate companies in bidding for projects on infrastructure delivery.
Aliyu added that the society will be celebrating the 60th anniversary soon, adding that other events to commemorate the diamond jubilee will be unfolded soon.
