NSE Abeokuta Inducts New Corporate members, Honours Distinguished Personalities

The Nigerian Society of Engineers, (NSE) Abeokuta Branch has inducted new members into the corporate fold of the prestigious professional body. This took place at a well attended ceremony at the Valley View Hall, Government House, Isale Igbein, Abeokuta, on Thursday 12th March 2020.

The NSE President, Engr. Mohammed Babagana, FNSE who was ably represented by Engr. M.O.Odesanya, FNSE charged the new inductees to use their talents to better engineering profession in the country.

The event climaxed the activities of the 2020 Engineering week celebration of NSE Abeokuta Branch which featured Health walk and health talk, Novelty Match, Quiz Competition for Secondary Schools, Visitation to Borstal Juvenile Correctional Homes, among others.

In  a lecture titled “Engineering in the future: How ready are we?, The Plant Manager, International Breweries, Sagamu, Engr. Tony Agah highlighted the key challenges in the world today which could be solved through engineering and technology. The Guest Speaker also emphasized the need for Nigerian engineers to scale up  in research and practice especially now that the world is moving towards Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Reality.

The Abeokuta Branch Chairman, Engr. Dr. Olanrewaju Apampa, FNSE also charged Engineers to ensure that their output complies with globally accepted quality standards, as this would open up more opportunities for them in the practice of their profession.

The event also featured conferment of awards on some notable personalities and Corporate bodies  for their outstanding contributions to the development of engineering in Ogun state and Nigeria at large, including Ogun State Commissioner of Agriculture, Dr. Samson Odedina, Former Ogun State Head of Service, Engr. Lanre Bisiriyu, FNSE, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta and Ogun Oshun River Basin Development Authority.

Recognition and prize awards were given to some students of secondary schools that came tops in the quiz competition organised as part of activities marking the week long celebration.

 

The events was well attended by dignitaries from all walks of life including the Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako – Oyedele, who was represented by the Ogun State Commissioner of Works, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, Ogun State Head of Service, Tpl Mrs. Amope A. Chockor, MD/CEO Ogun Oshun River Basin Development Authority, Olufemi O. Odumosu among others.
