NIWE Visits Arakanga Dam, Promises efforts geared towards adequate water supply.

In the wake of the continuous water shortage across Nigeria, the Nigerian Institution of Water Engineers had pledged to support government and relevant stakeholders in ensuring provision of adequate water supply.

National Chairman of the body, Engr. Chinyere Nnenna Igwegbe, FNSE stated this while on an on-the-spot assessment of ongoing rehabilitation work at the Ogun State Water Corporation’s dam, Iberekodo, Abeokuta.

While noting that ensuring availability of enough water for processing and distribution to customers all year round must be a priority for every government as exemplified by the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration in Ogun state, the NIWE National Chairman believes local manpower should be used more often adding that Nigerian engineers ate endowed with necessary and needed technical know how.

As at the time of the visit, all the five corroded gates of the undergoing rehabilitation at Iberekodo have been removed and replaced with new ones.

Earlier, the team visited the Ogun State Water Corporation and the Ogun-Oshun river basin development authority where she sought support for water engineers and NIWE as a body.
