As part of her Corporate Social responsibility, the Abeokuta Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE) has donated Complete systems of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) otherwise known as Security Surveillance Video Cameras to the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
While presenting the Surveillance Cameras, the Abeokuta Chairman of NIEEE Engr. Olumayowa Idowu, FNIEEE said combating insecurity and criminality with engineering and technological concept is the way forward in our society.
“Security business is everyone’s business. Hence, we need to support the security agencies in our own little way.”
The Chairman expressed the readiness of the Institute to partner with the command to achieve her mission in developing structures and training strategies that would contribute to the national security with the use of technology.
“Since the world is technological based, you need new technological innovations to strategize and contribute to national security”, Idowu said.
While appreciating the giant strides of NSCDC in protecting some critical infrastructures and national assets including telecommunications mast and equipment, power lines from vandalization, Engr. Idowu noted that technology can be used in tracking and locating hideouts of criminals , therefore detecting and preventing crimes in the society.
In his response, the Ogun State Commandant of NSCDC, Niyi L Ajibola commended the NIEEE Abeokuta for the good gesture and promised to partner with the Institute most especially in the area of ICT.
The commandant presented a complimentary award plaque as a show of appreciation.
