More Facts on Wrongfully Incarcerated Nigerian in Cote d’Ivoire’s Prison, Itunu Babalola

Following the incarceration of a Nigerian, Itunu Babalola in Coted’Ivoire’s prison, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission and the Nigeria Mission in Abidjan have concluded arrangement to engage the services of a legal luminary to prove her innocence by appealing against the ten – year jail term the court awarded the accussed for an offence she did not commit

Both the Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri – Erewa and the Charge D’Affaires of the Nigerian Mission in Cote D’Ivoire Muhammed Gana say the new prosecutor assigned to the case has given assurances of a fair and unbiased review and retrial of the case to secure the release of Itunu Babalola who had already spent two years out of her ten – year Jail term.

Report has it that during her trial, the former Prosecutor in collaboration with the Police allegedly twisted the case and accused convicted Itunu Babalola of human trafficking.

Itunu who hails from Oyo State, Nigeria has been living in Bondoukou, Cote d’Iovire for many years before she got entagled in a legal battle when she reported the burglary of her house to the Police.
