Inauguration Of Olori Dosunmu as Matron, Nigerian Girl Guide Association

The Olori of Owu Kingdom in Egbaland, Olori Bosun Dosunmu, has been appointed Matron of Nigerian Girl Guide Association, Ogun State Chapter, with a pledge to ensure positive contributions to the developmental growth of both girl and boy child.

The colourful investiture ceremony took place at the Olowu Palace in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital, had in attendance family, friends, associates, and well-wishers.

The Ogun State Commissioner of the Nigerian Girl Guide Association, Mrs Moyosore Adeyemi, who expressed appreciation on the acceptance of the matronship by the Olori, also identified her (Olori) contributions to the society.

While pointing out the role of the association, Adeyemi frowned at girl-child molestation such as rape, maiming and killing among other violent crimes.

‘We appreciate your acceptance as matron of this great association, and we also note your contributions towards the welfare of the less privilege in the society.
We are also of the conviction that you are a genuine mother, who loves the girl-child’, she stated

Deputy Chief Commissioner of the body, Mrs Rhoda Thomas in her remarks said the association was happy with the coming on board of the Olori pointing out that, her involvement is a boost to the association.

The Deputy Chief Commissioner who decorated the Olori and handed over the Child Protection Policy document to her, assured the matron that, the executive of the association will equally give maximum support as she leads them in the course of making life meaningful for the girl-child.

The Olori in her acceptance speech, pointed out that the association needs to move further in accommodating the interest and welfare of boy-child as well, and not limit the activities to only the care of the girl-child.

‘Our role is to protect all, let us also extend our activities to the boy-child, and not limit ourselves to the girl-child and look beyond girl-child protection’, she emphasized.

In attendance were Comrade Moyosore Adeyemi, State Commissioner; Mrs Rhoda Thomas, Deputy Chief Commissioner; Miss Feyisetan Kemi Shittu, Assistant State Commissioner; Rev(Mrs) Juliana Sonde-Aluko, State Adviser; Mrs Modupe Alaba Kusimo, Immediate Past State Chairman; and Rev(Mrs) Oluwatoyin Adeyemo, Matronn. Other dignitaries include: Yeye Seyi Aderinokun, Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission; Erelu Adekemi Amoye, Erelu Amororo; and Chief Mrs Remilekun Opere, Osi-Iyalode Apomu.
