FRSC To Collaborate With NIPOST On Verification of Addresses of National Drivers License Holders

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has activated processes for an effective collaboration with the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) to ensure that henceforth all National Drivers Licence applicants/holders as well as applicants of vehicle number plates provide addresses that are verifiable, confirmed and validated before they could be given the products. This is to boost national security and have a more robust National Uniform Licensing Scheme.
In a statement by the Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, the collaboration was birthed during a working visit of the Post Master-General, Nigerian Postal Service, Dr Ismail Adebayo Adewusi to the Corps Marshal, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi at the National Headquarters of the Commission on Monday, April 4, 2022
In the course of the presentations made by the NIPOST team on Address Verification System, the Post Master-General revealed that a software solution tagged E-Solution Centre has been created to serve as a one stop shop for all Government services including those that concern issuing of the National Drivers Licence and Number Plates.
This E-solution and the Address Verification System have been created to support public institutions including FRSC to build a robust data management system.
The Corps Marshal, while responding said that due to unverifiable addresses, the Corps has over the years found it extremely difficult to track run away offenders and victims of road traffic crashes.
He also revealed that digitisation of the work processes has in no little degree impacted on the operational activities of the Corps. According to him, the Corps will surely collaborate with NIPOST in this regard because technology is needed for most of the products and services of the Corps.
“The deployment of technology in the work process like the body cameras for instance have been instrumental to the decline in assaults on FRSC personnel’. He added.
