#EndSARS: Gov. Abiodun appeals for calm, Urges protesters to allow implementation of planned police reform

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has again appealed to EndSARS demonstrators in the State to be peaceful, calm and civil in their conduct and not allow the lofty idea behind the protest to be hijacked by hoodlums and self-serving people.

Governor Abiodun made this known in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary , Kunle Somorin in Abeokuta.

Governor Abiodun also enjoined security agencies to always exercise restraint and avoid use of force in managing peaceful protests.

He said he identified with the objectives of the protest against law enforcement agencies brutalising citizens.

In the spirit of calm, the governor said he has ensured that all the demonstrators arrested in the wake of the protest in Ogun State be released, including three suspects that were arraigned in court.

He admonished the protesters to allow the planned reform of the police, starting with the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and other measures already announced by President Buhari to stand.
