APC NWC meets next week on national convention

Members of the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress are meeting in Abuja next week where decisions are expected to be taken on the party’s national convention.

The meeting, according to sources at the party national secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday, would also discuss the modalities for the proposed convention.

It was also gathered that the NWC might take decisions on the lingering crisis rocking some of the state chapters of the APC as a result of the outcome of their last congresses.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, confirmed the planned  meeting in an interview with our correspondent.

He said that the meeting could not hold this week because majority of the NWC members were not living in Abuja and therefore would need at least one week notice for the meeting.

Abdullahi was asked whether the party was already discussing the probability of holding the convention after the return of President Muhammadu Buhari from his more than 100-days stay in London where he went for medical vacation.

He said, “We have not discussed when the national convention would hold. Until we meet next week, that’s when we will know the direction (it will take).  Many of our members don’t live in Abuja and so, we have to give at least one week notice for the meeting.”
