Amosun Task Corps Members On Vocational Training
The Ogun State Government has charged National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) members in the State to take full advantage of opportunities inherent in the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) scheme towards their self development.
Amosun stated this at the official opening/ Swearing-in–ceremony of 2017 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1, Orientation Course, held at the Sagamu International Stadium, Sagamu.
The Governor, who was represented by the State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr. Afolabi Afuape, said NYSC vocational programmes had been re-designed to offer entrepreneurial knowledge and skill opportunities for members, adding that any serious minded corps member who key into it could be an employer of labour before the end of service year, than longing for white colour jobs that could not be ascertained.
He lamented on the lackadaisical attitudes of some youths in the country for not being too serious at taking up skill and vocational training that would made them self reliant and in turn make them employer of labour, urging the corps members to corporate so as to achieve the set object of the programme..
“One of the NYSC programmes that I fell in love with is that of SAED which will give ample opportunities to corps members during their one year service in the State, and will like to assure you of the state support for the successful implementation of the programme.
“I also enjoin you to take precaution not to tamper with any of the facilities provided for your comfort, as your welfare is most paramount to the Governing Board” Amosun said
Speaking at the event, the Chairman Ogun State NYSC Governing Council Board who doubles as the State Commissioner for Youths and Sport Hon. Afolabi Afuape represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Joseph Fabi, commended the efforts of the present administration at promoting the well being of corps members in the state especially at ensuring successful implementation of the vocational training.
Afuape noted that NYSC in Ogun State had the best Orientation Camp nationwide, enjoining corps members to be more cautious at the camp so as not damage any of the facilities, as government would not relent at providing for their wellbeing.
Hon. Justice Mobolaji Ojo who represented the State Chief Judge, Justice Olatokunbo Olopade, advised them to maximise their potentials during the programme and avert any forms of juvenile delinquencies that could derailed the dreams in life
