THE former Head of Interim National Government, Chief Ernest Shonekan, has described Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, as a great transformer.

He said that Amosun since assumption of office on May 29, 2011, had changed the face of the state to better the lots of the people infrastructural wise.

Shonekan said this in his remarks at the 2017 Christmas Carol organised by the state government, held at the June 12, Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, on Friday.

The former Head of State noted that the entire landscape of the Gateway State, had been touched positively by the Amosun-led government, calling for more support from the people of the state, for it to achieve more.

Shonekan also charged the people of the state to pay their taxes promptly so as to enable government to do more.

“This administration mean well for the good people of Ogun State. We are all witnesses to the great transformation going round in the state. Governor Ibikunle Amosun giant strides in all areas of human lives are second to none.

“I implore you all to support this government to achieve more. We must help him to succeed. Our support will go a long way in making this administration to end well. We must all perform our civic responsibilities by paying our taxes;  respecting constituted authority and be law-abiding,” he added.

In his sermon, the President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Revd (Dr) Supo Ayokunle, also lent his voice by commending the Amosun’s administration for all the achievements recorded so far.

Ayokunle, who also doubles as the President of the Nigeria Baptist Convention, said Christmas celebration is a special period in humanity.

He enjoined all Christians to imbibe the virtues of peace, good brotherliness and love with one another and other Nigerians.

Amosun equally sought for the prayers of the people of the state, for his government to end well.

The Carol had in attendance the chairman and co-chairman of the African Newspapers of Nigeria, Revd (Mrs) Omotola Oyediran and Ambassador Olatokunbo Awolowo Dosumu respectively; the former Anglican Bishop of Lagos State and Dean Emeritus, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Rev Ephraim Ademowo; the General Overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries, Dr.  D. K Olukoya; former military administrators in Ogun and Ekiti States, General Raji Rasaki; Navy Captain Kayode Olofinmoyin; Daniel Akintonde and General Adetunji Idowu Olurin.

Others are the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon Suraj Adekunbi Ishola, the Chief Judge of Ogun State, Justice Olatokunbo Olopade, the chairman, Ogun State Traditional Council and Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle and the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, among others.
