Ogun Reiterates Commitment To Projects Completion

The Senator Ibikunle Amosun led government in Ogun State has again reiterated its commitment at ensuring the completion of all ongoing projects in the State before the end of its tenure.

The  Governor, who gave this assurance at the ground breaking ceremony of the 10 kilometre Lusada-Igbesa road in Agbara/Igbesa LCDA of the  State, said the dilapidated nature of the  road has brought untold hardship and discouraged investors from coming into the area, hence the partnership with Chinese-Africa Investment, in reconstructing the road.

The Governor who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Kayode Ademolake, said, with the influx of investors in that axis, it was necessary to involve private partnership in the reconstruction process,  assuring that the road, upon completion, would serve the people and further  improve the socio-economy activities in the area.

‘’The State government had undertaken to reconstruct this very important road, through Public Private Partnership (PPP) model on Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) basis, not only as a means of involving the private sector in the provision of key infrastructure, but also to find the needed funds, to enable the State provide more dividends of democracy to the people of our dear State’’, he said.

The Governor further hinted that the residents of Igbesa town, as well as motorcycle and tricycle operators, would be exempted from paying tolls.

The Managing Director of China-Africa Investment, Mr. Wilson Wu, described the road project as a major milestone in his Company’s relationship with the Ogun State government, expressing optimism that the first phase of the project which will be ready by December, would be of immense benefit to the residents and investors operating in the area.

A representative of the community, Chief Ajibola Olagbaye, appreciated the State government and the Chinese investors for the commitment shown in the actualisation of the project, urging the contractors to engage people within the locality in executing the project.

He implored residents to give their full support, at ensuring the timely completion of the projects.
