Abducted Zamfara school girls released

The female students of Government Secondary School Jangebe abducted last week by bandits have been released.

Governor Bello Matawale announced this on Tuesday on his Twitter handle.

He met with the girls in the Government House around 5:45am, stating all of them were hale and hearty.

He said the actual number of abductees is 279 and not 317 as earlier stated by the police.

Though he stated no ransom was paid for their release, the Governor however stated about 30 repentant bandits were swapped for them.

He urged the Federal government to strengthen capacity of the security agents.

The Governor and his wife, A’isha were at the Government House to receive the freed schoolgirls.
