2019: Obasanjo Drums Support For Ogun West

The former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has again given his support for the emergence of Ogun West indigene as the governor of Ogun State in 2019.

Obasanjo who made his position known while playing host to the Yewa/Awori media practitioners in his hill top home, Abeokuta, said his decision to support the emergence of Yewa indigene for governor in 2019 was as a result of the marginalization of the area as it was the only zone that has not produced a governor since the State was created over 40 years ago.

The former president lauded Governor Ibikunle Amosun for his stand and decision to give necessary supports for Yewa candidacy, describing him as a man who believes in equity in the distribution of the state’s common wealth.

According to Obasanjo, “let me reassure you that I am in total support of the emergence of Yewa man becoming the Governor of Ogun in 2019 and I will not stop to clamour for it until it comes to reality. I was the first person to pronounce that Yewas and Igbos are being marginalized but surprisingly, the Igbos took action immediately by clamouring to be president of Nigeria and they have not stopped till date, while people from Yewa here in my state kept silent. Well, it is good thing that they are now coming out and I’m reassuring them that I will continue to support them because I believe in equity.’’

He enjoined people of the area not to allow any body or group of politicians to divide them but be united towards realizing their dream.
