2019: My guber ambition still intact —GNI
A two-time governorship candidate in Ogun State, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, has denied insinuation in some quarters that he might not be contesting for the seat in 2019.
Isiaka said he had no ambition of contesting for the senatorial seat in Ogun West, insisting that his ambition is to occupy the exalted seat after the expiration of Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s tenure.
He dropped this hint during a meeting with the members of Imeko-Afon Council of Chiefs in Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of the state, last Tuesday.
He said, “Nothing can be farther from the truth. It is laughable to think that I will abandon my people at a time when the chance of victory is brightest.
“Let me assure you all that I remain resolved on this course and will pursue it till I get to the office on May 29th 2019.”
He promised his kinsmen of his determination to win the forthcoming governorship election and promised to address challenges confronting local communities.
“The desire to address the challenges in our local communities and towns are the very reasons why I am still in the race and by the will of God and the support of all of Ogun State citizens, I will make life more abundant for all as the governor of the state,” he added.
The Chairman of the Council, who is also the Baale of Alagba, Chief Joseph Iroko, affirmed their support for Isiaka’s desire to govern the state.
Iroko also appealed to people of the local government to shun money politics as 2019 general elections draw nearer.
“I appeal to our people not to look at what they will gain immediately from other politicians for now. The growth of our community should be paramount to us,” he said.
