Ogun Prioritises Investment In Primary Health Care
The Ogun State government says it will continue to prioritise investment in the primary healthcare services as it remains the cornerstone to qualitative healthcare delivery in the State.
Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye, made this known during a media chat with newsmen in Abeokuta to commemorate the 2018 World Health Day tagged ” Universal Health Coverage: Everyone, Everywhere ” held at the Conference Hall, Ministry of Health, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta
Ipaye noted that government had adopted a supply and demand strategy for health services, which includes renovation of hospitals, recruitment and training of personnel, as well as provision of equipment for greater efficiency of the sector in the State.
The Commissioner also added that the present administration had put in place a demand strategy which seeks to mobilise people in various communities in the State to take full responsibility of their health, adding that to further enhance life expectancy of people of the State, government had tackled quackery especially among private practitioners.
Ipaye, solicited the continued support of development partners towards mobilising resources for government to fully achieve its efficient health care delivery agenda, affirming that the present administration remained committed to improving primary healthcare delivery with a particular interest in curbing under five mortality while immunisation and treatment of diseases like Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and Malaria would also be prioritised.
