NIEEE to Honour Late Engr. Mufutau Olayemi Waliu with Public Lecture in Abeokuta

The Abeokuta Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE) has scheduled a public lecture in memory of Late Engr. Waliu Olayemi Mufutau – a quintessential Engineer and Administrator per excellence.
Late Engr. Olayemi, a former Vice Chairman (Instrumentation, Control and Automation) NIEEE Abeokuta was murdered on 17th November, 2020.
In a signed statement by the Chapter Chairman, Engr. Olumayowa Idowu, FNIEEE, aside honouring the memory of a distinguished engineer, a public lecture with the theme, “Engineering Precision, Administrative Finesse and their Imperatives for Quality Service Delivery in Organisations” aimed at directing public focus to one of many individuals who have made a significantly positive difference through selflessness during the short time spent on earth is billed to be delivered by Mr. Bayo Ogundimu – Registrar DS Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori, Abeokuta.
The 1year memorial lecture of Late Engr. Mufutau Waliu Olayemi, is scheduled to hold on Wednesday 17th November, 2021 at NSE Abeokuta Secretariat, Opposite OOPL, Oke mosan, Abeokuta by 4pm.
Profile of Late Engr. Mufutau Waliu Olayemi
Engr. Mufutau Waliu Olayemi was born on 25th September, 1985 at Oki’s Compound, Sango, Custom Base, Saki, Saki West Local Government, Oyo State.
Calm and Cool headed Waliu started his Primary Education at First Africa Baptist Primary School II Sango, Saki and graduated in 1997 as the Senior Boy.
Thereafter, he proceeded to ADS Society High School Saki Oyo State for his Senior Secondary School Certificate and graduated in the year 2003. He was Health Prefect during his Secondary School days.
Humble and Easy going Waliu Olayemi Mufutau also attended Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State for his Ordinary National Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering where he finished with Distinction in the year 2005.
In quest for more knowledge, Engr. Mufutau thereafter went to prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile Ife Osun State where he had First Class Honour in Electronic and Electrical Engineering in 2011. A 2 – time Secretary of Saki Student Union at OAU between 2009 – 2010, Yemi Liberty as he was fondly called during his University days, was a socialist, Vibrant member of Student Representative Council, Speaker Electrical Eng. Representative Council
He had his National Youth Service Corps Programme at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) Ojeere where he had tremendous impact in the lives of students in the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering between 2012 to 2013.
Due to his committment and passion to educational activities in the Polytechnic, he was absorbed as Associate lecturer into the Electrical and Electronic Engineering, MAPOLY in the year 2013.
While he was an Associate lecturer at MAPOLY, Engr Waliu O. Mufutau got registered as a Corporate Member of Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) with NSE Number 39029, Registered Engineer with Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and a member of International Association of Engineers (IAENG).
Due to his interest to acquire more knowledge, Engr Mufutau went to University of Ibadan for his Masters of Science Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Control and Instrumentation Option) and graduated in flying colours/strong PhD grade.
In 2018, Engr. Mufutau joined the service of DS Adegbenro Polytechnic, Itori, Ogun State as Lecturer I and was Ag. HOD of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in the institution until his death. Worthy of note is his immense contribution towards getting the departmental programmes accredited by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) after a first failed attempt. He was Chairman and member of various committee at DS Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori, Ogun State.
Past Technical Secretary of Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Abeokuta Branch,  Engr. Mufutau has many published peer – reviewed articles in local and international journals, actively participated and presented at conferences and meetings. His last presented publication was at University of Nigeria 2020 Conference on Engineering Research, Technology Innovation and Practice on 5th November, 2020.
Until his death, Engr. Mufutau was Internal Auditor of Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Abeokuta Branch and Vice Chairman of (Instrumentation, Control and Automation Engineering Section) of Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE) Abeokuta Chapter.
A devouted muslim, Engr. Mufutau has many awards local and national awards to his credit.
Engr. Waliu O. Mufutau is survived by wife, Nurse Mufutau Adenike and 2 beautiful daughters.
