Ogun To Support Agro-Industrialised Economy
The Ogun State Government says it will continue to support activities that promote the development of agro-industrialised economy.
Commissioner for Agriculture, Mrs. Adepeju Adebajo gave this assurance at the closing of a technical planning workshop on a land degradation neutrality transformative project, with the theme “Ile Dotun”, held in Abeokuta.
Adebajo said “Ile Dotun” project was to ensure the restoration of natural landscape of Imeko-Afon and Awowo for the benefits of small scale farmers residing in the area, as well as revive the forest and game reserves.
“This meeting is significant because it will set the pace for the commencement of this project and ensure all institutions that are part of this project know where and when their input will be needed,” she said.
The Commissioner advised all participants at the workshop to reach concrete planning decisions for next steps to be taken and assign specific roles to ensure speedy delivery.
Earlier, the representative of the Federal Ministry of Environment, Dr. Haruna Bala, said it was important to put in efforts to achieve success, explaining that the project was not limited to the nation, but has global connection because of the different partners involved.
While assuring of the Federal government’s full support to the project, Dr. Bala said the same effort would be replicated in other parts of the country, where forest had been degraded.
Leader of the team, Pierre Delacroix said, “though it seemed ambitious to revive a total of 100,000 hectares of forest reserves in the locations chosen but they were determined to attain success”.
