Society of Nigerian Broadcasters Announces National Conference Date


The Society of Nigerian Broadcasters (SNB) has announced that its National Conference will be held from 14th to 15th August. This announcement was made in a statement by the SNB National Coordinator, Dr. Yemisi Bamgbose.

According to the statement, the conference, which is jointly organized by the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON), Broadcast Media Africa (BMA), and the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters (SNB), will feature Dr. John Momoh, OON, Chairman of Channels Television Media Group, as the Keynote Speaker. The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, is expected to officially open the conference. The theme for the conference is “Broadcasting and the Political Economy of Content Production in the Digital Age.”

The two-day conference will gather young and veteran media practitioners, advertising professionals, academic scholars in Mass Communication and media studies, and broadcast regulators from Nigeria and other African countries. This will be the first time broadcast journalists, including radio and TV producers, presenters, and other stakeholders, will come together for such an event.

During the conference, the Society will honor notable figures who have made significant contributions to broadcasting. These include Mrs. Anike Agbaje William, Ambassador Yemi Farounbi, Elder Diran Orekunrin, HRH Mohammed Ibrahim, Engr Vincent Maduka, Engr Wigwe, Bishop George Bako, Alhaji Abubakar Jiijiwa, Chief Taiwo Alimi, Dr. John Momoh, Mr. John Ugbe, Sa’a Ibrahim, Segun Olaleye, Yakubu Ibn Mohammed, and Abike Dabiri Erewa. Additionally, posthumous honors will be given to Ambassador Segun Olusola, Alhaji Abdulrahman Michika, Mr. Ikena Ndaguba, and Chief Raymond Dokpesi, among others.

The Society of Nigerian Broadcasters, a registered association of professional broadcasters in Nigeria, was established in 1962 and continues to play a pivotal role in advancing the broadcasting industry in the country.
