APWEN Abeokuta Set to Inaugurate Alayaki as the 4th Chairman

The Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) Abeokuta Chapter is set to inaugurate Engr. Dr. Funmilayo Alayaki as the 4th Chairman of the professional body.

In a press release signed by the Chairman of the Planing Committee, Engr. Bola Adeoye, the event is billed to take place on Wednesday 18th October, 2023 at the Ceremonial Building, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) by 11am.

The Head of Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Prof Petra Adulsalam – Saghir is expected at the event to do justice to the theme Sustainable Economic Empowerment: Women Leading Innovation and Transformation Entrepreneurship.

According to the release, the President of Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN), Engr. Dr. Jumoke Eterigho, FNSE, FNSChE will Chair the occasion while Engr. Temitayo Adegbuyi, FNSE, FNIEEE will be the Chief Host. The event will also be used to inaugurate the new executive committee of the Abeokuta Chapter of the APWEN

APWEN was formally inaugurated in 1983 as the catalyst for the advancement of women in the engineering profession towards national and global technological development, with the mission to continuously increase awareness that engineering is a career for girls also, thereby improving the numerical strength of female engineers and to provide a forum for promoting sorority amongst female engineers. APWEN currently has forty – two (42) Chapters across the country.
