Ogun Speaker Assures of Government’s Commitment to Welfare of Citizens

Speaker of the Ogun state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo has assured residents of Laderin and other villages along the Lagos-Ibadan railway line in Abeokuta of government’s commitment to their welfare.

The Speaker gave the assurance while receiving residents of Laderin and other villages along the Lagos-Ibadan railway line, who were on a peaceful protest to the house on the failure of the contractor handling the railway project to redeem the promise of an overhead bridge across the rail line to connect their villages to main roads and other amenities in the neighbouring town.

The residents accused the contractor of insensitivity to their plights on the construction, maintaining that the railway line has cut off most of their villages from the main town and this has brought hardship to residents of the villages from connecting the main town, just as it affects other social  amenities in the area.

Rt. Hon. Oluomo who promised to pass a resolution on the issue, also assured that the house will liaise with the member representing the area in the Federal House of Representatives and table the matter before the house of representatives, since the construction is a federal government project, promising to talk with the contractor on what to be done to assist the villagers.

A representative of the residents of the villages who is also the CDA chairman of Abule-Ake village, Alhaji Farouk Akintunde further noted that their villages are under threat of being cut off from the main town.

The affected villages include, Laderin, Abule Ake, Sidipon and hundreds of others who are under the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area.
