Ogun HOS Advocates Resource Allocation for Capacity Building

The Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Abayomi Sobande has advocated for resource allocation for capacity building in order to develop the workforce of the South-west States.

Speaking at the South-West Regional Heads of Service Strategic meeting, organized by Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission in Abeokuta, Sobande said, as the machinery that drives government policies and programmes, there was the need for the region’s governments to reposition their workforce, affirming that constant training and retraining would ensure the attainment of individual State goals.

Speaking earlier, the Director General, DAWN Commission,   Mr. Seye Oyeleye urged governments in the region to consider the public service as a crucial factor for implementing their programmes and projects, acknowledging the Heads of Service invaluable partnership in achieving the commission’s vision of making the western region the preferred place to visit, live, work and invest in Nigeria.

He said the meeting which was held last in 2016 in Ondo State, was critical to the developmental conversations because of the permanent nature of the public service, confirming the readiness of the officials of the different MDA’s across the six States of the region, to improve service delivery that would advance the course of the region’s development.

Present at the meeting were the Heads of Service from Ekiti, Ondo and representatives of Lagos, Osun and Oyo States.
