OGSG to Support MSMEs, NASSI for Economic Growth

The present administration in Ogun State will be in support of any initiative, targeted at developing the activities of Micro Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (MSMEs), in order to strengthen the economic base of the State.

The Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) Mrs. Mojisola Dosumu, stated this in Abeokuta, during a chat with newsmen shortly after receiving an award, as one of the best contributors to the development of MSMEs in the State.

While commending the new administration for extending hands of fellowship to small scale industries in the State, Mrs. Dosumu urged Nigerian women to take advantage embedded in the MSMEs by venturing into viable business that would foster financial independence and achieve a sustainable economic growth through the Nigeria Association of Small Scale Industrialists (NASSI), Ogun State Chapter.

Speaking, the Chief Regulatory Officer, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Mr. Akinwale Fagoroye, said any nation with strong economic base, thrives on SMEs and MSMEs, adding that NAFDAC would always support MSMEs from Ogun State NASSI, for proper registration of their products, provided the products meet standard requirements.

In their separate presentations, the Ogun State Coordinator, Bank of Industry (BOI), Mr. Tunde Ajala and the Development Finance Officer, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Biodun Okunola, said, over 500 million naira had been disbursed to citizens of the State that are NASSI members, saying that women had been found to be more faithful in repayment of the loan than their male counterparts.

Okunola, said rural entrepreneurship thrives in Ogun State than any other States, charging NASSI to keep the flag flying by encouraging MSMEs in the State, while Ajala revealed that BOI had funded SMEs and MSMEs with one million to 10 million naira, without collateral and two guarantors from  recognized institutions, churchs or community leaders.
