Ogun To Begin Household Mobilization For Net Distribution

Towards the eradication of malaria menace, the Ogun State Government in conjunction with Catholic Relief Services is set to embark on household mobilization for the distribution of Long Lasting Insecticidal Net (LLIN) across the 57 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas of the state.

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye, while addressing LLIN Campaign Coordination Network at his Oke-Mosan office, Abeokuata, said the household mobilization process would commence on April 14 through April 22, 2018 to ensure that all households in the state were accurately enlisted for effective distribution.

Dr. Ipaye assured that over three million nets would be distributed after the mobilization, urging citizens to cooperate with mobilisers by giving accurate information needed to make the exercise a success.

“My charge to the people of Ogun State is that we must receive all the mobilisers warmly. We must give them accurate information about the number of people that live in each household,” Ipaye admonished.

He advised citizens to discard the erroneous belief that the net was dangerous to their health, adding that it doesn’t constitute any danger, as it was a replacement process of net shared in the last four years rather than a new innovation.

“We must make sure that this net is given to our people, we must also know that the old age belief that the net will make you feel hot at night is not true, because this special net is particularly well ventilated and sleeping under it does not make you feel hot at night, it is also not poisonous .We have distributed several millions and this is just for the replacement in Ogun State,” he assured.
