Abuja-Kaduna Train Service: 8,051 Passengers Accessed E-Ticketing Platform In Three Days ― FG

At least 8,051 passengers accessed the e-ticketing platform of the Abuja-Kaduna railway service between January 13 and 15, 2021, the Federal Government has said.

Tribune Online reports that the tets-run of the e-ticketing platform was test-run on the platform of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) on January 13 in a bid to eliminate fraudulent activities that occur in the course of manual tickets purchase on Abuja-Kaduna train route.

A statement made available to newsmen in Abuja by Mrs Taiye Elebiyo-Edeni, the media assistant to the Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, stated that “on the first day of the test booking, 1,174 passengers used the platform to purchase train tickets, on Thursday 3,479 passengers access the platform while on Friday, Jan. 15, 3,398 passengers accessed the platform.”

Amaechi had approved the commencement of the e-ticketing service which would fully be inaugurated on Wednesday, January 20.

Abuja-Kaduna train service has consistently been faced with the challenge of racketeering since inauguration in 2016.

The manual purchase of tickets is still in place at the train stations to enable those who cannot access the e-ticketing to purchase tickets over the counter at the train stations.
