Award: Aisha Buhari commends Nigerians for show of love, support

The wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, has commended Nigerians for the show of love and support to her efforts towards improving the living standard of women and children in Nigeria.

Aisha said this on Friday shortly after her arrival from South Korea where she received a Doctor of Philosophy award from the Sun Moon University, Asan-si.

News Agency reports that the wife of the President was conferred with two different awards by the Sun Moon University in Asan-si city and Ajou University in Suwon, South Korea.

NAN also reports that Mrs Buhari was awarded Doctorate Degree in Public Administration by Sun Moon University and World Leadership Prize award by Ajou University where the Ajou University also named a Multimedia Centre after her.

The wife of the President who spoke through the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Administration, Dr Hajo Sani, said Mrs Buhari remained grateful to all Nigerians especially women and children for their concern towards the success of her project.

She said it was a thing of joy that the humanitarian services executed by Aisha Buhari Foundation and Future Assured initiative get international recognition.

“Her Excellency was in Korea on the invitation of two great universities in South Korea to honour her with a doctorate degree on humanities.

“The Sun Moon University as well as Ajou University that honoured her with a leadership award as well as naming a Hall after her, the Aisha Buhari Hall.

“So, this is one important award we can say at the international level and it is an extension of her legacy outside Nigeria to the other parts of the world.”

In his remark, Dr Aminu Chiroma of Modibbo Adama University, Yola, who was in Mrs Buhari’s entourage, prayed for the sustainability of her humanitarian efforts, especially her Youths Educational Empowerment Programme.

Chiroma said it was gratifying that the wife of the President was chosen among others for touching the lives of vulnerable people in her community.

Also speaking, Prof. Abdullahi Abba of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria said the award was a recognition of Mrs Buhari’s projects and initiatives around the world.

Abba said that the award was a great honour to Nigeria and Africa, adding that the honour came after rigorous selection processes.

“So, we are very proud of her, we are very proud of the country and we hope we can sustain this efforts,’’ he said.

NAN also reports that the wife of the President had dedicated the award to the women and children of Nigeria who were the main focus of her Foundation.
