NYC: Be good Ambassadors, Amosun charges athletes

The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has charged athletes representing the State at the National Youth Games (NYC), taking place in Ilorin, Kwara State, to be committed and not engage in acts that would bring the State into disrepute.

Amosun, who gave the charge at Alake Sports Centre, Ijeja, Abeokuta, said the purpose of participating in the games, was to discover and develop new talents, that would represent the State at national and international sporting events.

The Governor,  represented by the  Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Afolabi Afuape, said it was the desire of the State that its athletes through their performance, are called to national camp in large number, expressing confidence that they would do the State proud in their various sporting activities.

He pledged that despite paucity of resources, the present administration would not relent in its efforts at promoting sporting activities at the grassroots, lauding the management and coaches, for their resilience, understanding and cooperation.

In his remark, the Director, Finance and Account, Ogun State Sport Council, Mr. Mathew Olalokiki, appreciated  government for supporting sport men and women in the State,  charging the athletes to make the State proud by wining the competition.
