Amr Moussa, the former Secretary -General of the League of Arab States, said that Britain’s recognition of the State of Palestine represents a very important historical step, bearing political and historical symbolism, especially since London bears a historical responsibility for the developments that followed the Balfour Declaration in 1917, as well as its refusal to vote on the decision to divide Palestine.
Moussa: The world is heading towards establishing the Palestinian state
Moussa explained, in statements to the story program, that this British move is the beginning of a new development that other countries can join, considering that it is a correction of a situation that has extended for more than a century, even if the step does not have a direct executive formula.
In a related context, Moussa commented on what was reported regarding the invitation of former US President Donald Trump to hold a meeting with Arab leaders in the White House to discuss the Palestinian issue and the situation in Gaza, saying that such a call represents a positive step if it is true, but provided that the Arab delegation is limited and represents countries capable of speaking clearly in the name of everyone.
Moussa suggested that Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan represent the Arab position, due to its proximity to the file and its ability to transfer a rational vision to the American administration, noting that any expanded meeting that includes all leaders may not be practical or effective.
The former Secretary -General of the League of Arab States stressed that the world is heading towards establishing the Palestinian state, and the United States must be at the forefront of this path, by convincing Israel that its future depends on resolving the Palestinian issue, warning that the continued ignorance of international law threatens the collapse of the world order and the spread of chaos.
