A ration campaign was able to seize a quantity of 2.5 tons (2,500 liters) of cooking oil of unknown origin loaded on a “Jumbo Fintas” car, before putting it on the market in the East Shubra El Kheima neighborhood.

This comes in implementation of the directives of Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, and Engineer Ayman Attia, Governor of Qalyubia, to intensify the supervisory presence in the markets and pursue products of unknown origin that pose a threat to the health and safety of citizens.

The campaign came under the guidance of Dr. Tamer Salah Mukhtar, Undersecretary of the Ministry and Director of the Qalyubia Supply Directorate, and Eng. Amal Abdel Qawi, Undersecretary of the Directorate, Mohamed Abdel Baqi, Director of the Supply Control Department in the Directorate, Ayed Rushdi, Director of the East Shubra El Kheima District Supply Department, and Islam Shaaban, Head of Control in the East Shubra El Kheima District, participated in the campaign.

During the field traffic in the East Shubra El Kheima district, the campaign became suspicious of the “Jumbo Fantas” car, and by stopping it and questioning its driver, he reported that it was loaded with cooking oil without providing any proof of its source.

Immediately, Dr. Tamer Salah Mokhtar directed that the car and the cargo be seized and handed over to the second Shubra El Kheima Police Department, and that the necessary legal measures be taken regarding the incident.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Supply in Qalyubia confirmed the continuation of surprise ration campaigns and raising the degree of field readiness in the various cities and centers of the governorate, in implementation of the directives of the political leadership to establish a disciplined commercial environment that protects consumer rights and supports committed merchants, stressing that the directorate will not hesitate to refer violators to the relevant authorities.
